The Challenge: Scaling Up Warewash Capacity with a Complex Power Requirement

The university required a significant upgrade to its warewash provision, moving from a single Minirack dishwasher to two Maidaid hood pass-through dishwashers — a substantial increase in both capacity and capability.

The existing electrical infrastructure presented the key challenge. The site had a single 3-phase 63-amp isolator serving the original Minirack machine. With two hood pass-through dishwashers now being installed, each requiring their own dedicated supply, the power infrastructure needed a full redesign before any equipment could go in.

The Solution: Electrical Redesign and Full Installation

Catercall's project team managed the full scope of works, including:

• Full electrical rewire to provide two independent 3-phase 32-amp isolators — one per dishwasher
• Supply and installation of two Maidaid hood pass-through dishwashers
• Commission and testing of both units to ensure full operational readiness
• Supply and installation of bespoke stainless steel tabling and sinks fabricated by Seropa Ltd

Key technical detail: The move from one 63-amp isolator to two 32-amp isolators was essential to safely power two independent hood pass-through machines — a detail that required careful planning and execution ahead of equipment installation.

The Result: A High-Capacity Warewash Set-Up, Ready for Service

With the electrical infrastructure correctly specified and installed, both dishwashers were commissioned successfully and integrated with the new bespoke stainless steel tabling and sink configuration. The university now has a reliable, high-capacity warewash operation built to handle the demands of a busy catering environment.
